Mike Leonard serves as Judge for Northwestern-Pritzker Law School’s International Trial Practice program

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Mike Leonard served as a Judge for the final mock trials in Northwestern-Pritzker Law School’s International Trial Practice program. The students in the program as a whole are all from other countries. The vast majority of them are already admitted or practicing lawyers in their home countries. Over the course of the year, these lawyers/students take a wide variety of courses within the law school. One of those is Trial Practice. The lawyers/students are given instruction under the same curriculum that is utilized for the second and third-year law students. This includes instruction and practice in opening statements, direct examination, cross-examination, closing arguments, objections, motions in limine, and pre-trial conferences. That instruction is provided by seasoned practicing trial lawyers from the Chicago area, as well as Federal and State Court Judges. The December mock trials provide the opportunity for the lawyers/students with their final trial practice effort. Mr. Leonard was privileged to “preside over” a mock trial conducted by four lawyers from China, Yuanjing Wang, Wenyu Li, Chuxin Qin, and Jieman Tan. It was an excellent performance by the lawyers/students.
