Federal Prosecutors Drop All Charges Against Leonard Trial Lawyers Client On Eve Of Jury Trial. After an almost five-year battle, and only weeks before a scheduled Federal jury trial, Federal prosecutors in Chicago moved to dismiss all charges against the Firm’s client.

This Federal prosecution first arose in calendar year 2020. In October 2020, Federal prosecutors charged Leonard Trial Lawyers’ client with aiding and abetting the  possession of a number of firearms, including: a Glock, model 19 Gen 5, 9mm caliber semiautomatic pistol; a Heckler and Koch, model USP Compact, .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol; a Para-Ordnance, model Slim Hawg, .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol; a FNH USA, model FNS-40, .40 caliber semiautomatic pistol; a Taurus, model 605, .357 caliber revolver; a Smith & Wesson, model 5906, 9mm caliber semiautomatic pistol; and a Taurus, model 856, .38 caliber revolver – in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g).

The case proceeded slowly during the COVID pandemic. Subsequently, after extensive discovery and motion practice, the case was finally set for trial in July 2025. However, on June 11, 2025, Federal prosecutors filed a Motion to Dismiss all charges against Leonard Trial Lawyers’ client. On June 13, 2025, the District Court entered an Order granting the Motion and dismissing all charges against the Defendant.

Although obtaining a not guilty jury verdict at trial would have been even more satisfying, Leonard Trial Lawyers’ client was able to avoid a jury trial entirely; to have all charges against him dismissed; to avoid even the possibility of serving time in federal prison; and to move forward with his life.
